Who we are

When Tenants Lose, Families Suffer. We’re Fighting Back.
In Texas, evictions are fast, brutal, and often baseless.

TAFT stands in the gap—with legal action, policy reform, and faith-led advocacy to protect tenants from injustice.

Across Texas, tenants are losing their homes—not because they’ve done something wrong, but because the system is stacked against them.

Landlords file hundreds of evictions each week, often without cause or consequence. They do it knowing tenants likely will not have an attorney, can’t take off work to defend themselves, and are unlikely to know their rights. Many never even get the notice to vacate and after being served, most don’t even show up to court for their own trial.

Meanwhile, tenants are forced to live in uninhabitable conditions—mold, rodents, sewage backups, broken A/Cs during scorching heat temperatures—and when tenants complain too much or even mention their tenant rights, landlords retaliate by filing for eviction.

In Texas, landlords can win even when they are wrong. Tenants lose even when they have followed the lease. The result?

Families sleeping in cars with their children, forced into shelters and subjected to abuse, and ruined rental histories with no immediate place to go.

It often seems like Texas eviction laws make homelessness a court-ordered outcome.

The Advocacy Firm for Tenants

Why We Exist

TAFT is more than a law firm.  We are a Christian justice ministry answering the biblical call to defend the poor and the oppressed.  We believe:

Justice is not a luxury for the rich—it’s a right for every human being made in God's image.  Jesus walked among the marginalized.  We see advocacy as a spiritual assignment to serve our clients with compassion, truth, and legal excellence—not for profit, but because Christ compels us to act.

How We help.

Legal Advocacy: We provide direct legal representation for tenants facing eviction, lockouts, habitability violations, and retaliation.

Tenant Education: We empower renters with knowledge of their rights through community workshops and online resources.

Policy Change: We work to reform laws and challenge systems that disproportionately harm renters.

Faith Integration: We keep Christ at the center of our work, offering prayer, spiritual support, and biblical counsel.
